The Racers have been collected by s.f.g. and have been placed in a cache. The race started Feb 6, 2012
After the race started, the racers will have got picked up by anyone not invested in the race(please see rules), and with any luck, the racers then started their year long journey from cache to cache earning points as they go.
At 6 months, the leader will be given a geocoin as a prize.
Also at 6 months, anyone who was lost, stolen or destroyed in the first half of the race will be able to re-enter at no cost. They must first be "Marked as Missing" and any points they accumulated in the first half will be null and void.
When the race ends the day before the 8th SEARCH winter cache event, the points will be tallied and the winners will be announced at the event.
The Top 3 racer get 1 free entry into the 2013 race as well as:
1st place - Year membership to Groundspeak + a TB
2nd place - A geocoin to be decided soon + a TB
3rd place - A TB
